USA Employment Type: Part-Time / Full-Time Salary Range: $25 – $35 / hr Position Overview We are seeking a versatile and passionate professional to fill a hybrid Q Grader & Coffee Roaster role at our growing commercial coffee roasting facility in Katy, Texas. This dual purpose position is vital to our operations, bridging the gap between precision sensory analysis and technical roast production. You will be responsible for both maintaining the highest standards of coffee quality and executing consistent, high-quality roasting operations. Key Responsibilities Production Roasting: Operate commercial roasting equipment (including Probat models) to execute daily roast schedules with precision and consistency. Roast Profiling: Develop, test, and maintain roast curves to achieve desired flavor profiles and optimize batch consistency. Sensory Evaluation & Quality Control: Conduct regular SCA-protocol cupping sessions to evaluate green coffee samples, production batches, and post-roast quality. Green Coffee Management: Manage green coffee inventory, evaluate pre-shipment spot samples, and assist in procurement decisions based on sensory data. Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of roast logs, cupping notes, and quality assurance data to ensure traceability and operational efficiency. Qualifications Certification: Active CQI Arabica Q Grader Certification is strictly required. Experience: Proven experience in commercial coffee roasting and sensory evaluation/QC (0 – 5 yrs exp). Technical Skills: Proficiency with industrial roasting software and equipment. Sensory Skills: Exceptional palate and olfactory sensitivity; deep understanding of SCA standards and processing methods.
