Heavy Equipment Operator (Class A CDL) Mikula Contracting, Inc. | Clifton, NJ | Full-time | $32 to $38 per hour

Who we are: Mikula Contracting is a family-owned excavation, demolition, and environmental contractor serving New Jersey since 1946.

What you'll do

• Operate excavators, loaders, backhoes and dozers safely and efficiently.
• Dig, trench, backfill, grade, and load and move material on excavation, site-work, demolition, and environmental jobs.
• Work to stakes and grade marks and follow hand signals from the crew.
• Make sure underground utilities are located and marked before any digging.
• Drive tandem dump trucks and haul material and equipment as needed.
• Do daily equipment checks, greasing, basic maintenance and minor repairs, and report problems right away.
• Work as a team with laborers, drivers, and foremen, and speak up about anything unsafe.

What you bring

• A current Class A CDL.
• Hands-on experience running heavy equipment in excavation, site work, or demolition.
• At least 1 year of experience driving tandem dump trucks.
• A working knowledge of equipment, job-site safety, and the terms used on the job.
• Good communication and a team-first attitude.

Physical requirements

• Climb on and off equipment and trucks using three points of contact.
• Operate controls for long periods in a vibrating cab.
• Work outdoors in all weather, on uneven ground, around dust and loud noise, wearing required protective gear.
• See and hear signals, alarms, and traffic around the machine.
